After tackling NaNoWriMo in November I started feeling burnt out on writing for the first time in two years. I decided to give myself grace and take December off from all writing endeavors, and now I’m feeling more ready to jump back into it. It probably still won’t look the same as it did, though. Life has been getting busier and more complicated of late.
I am expecting my fourth baby, after a nine-year break. My current youngest will be ten when this baby is born, so adjustements will have to be made which could make writing regularly a bit more difficult for a while. I never tried to write seriously when my other kids were babies, so this will be new territory for me.
On the other hand, I have older children for whom I feel like my writing endeavors have set a good example for them as far as pursuing my dreams and making the time to do something I love– an example which I hope they will follow. So I do still want to keep up with my writing not only for my own enjoyment but because I’ve seen how that example has rubbed off on my kids and made them more motivated to be creative as well.
It’ll be interesting to see how things go in this new year, and I hope you’ll stay with me as I navigate the changes in my life and– to quote Dory– just keep writing.
